Everton must watch Chelsea’s Gonzalo Higuaín’s chase with interest.

The Evening Standard report Chelsea are pushing hard to try and tie up a deal for Gonzalo Higuaín.
This is a deal which Everton should be monitoring, as it provides a potential chance for them to renew interest in Olivier Giroud, either now or in the summer.
The Higuaín transfer is complicated, with the striker on loan at AC Milan from Juventus.
Milan are reluctant to buy him permanently and Chelsea are trying to do a deal at £50 million.
This could open the door for Everton to renew their interest in Olivier Giroud this month.
Giroud was on the bench as he so frequently is for Chelsea’s Carabao Cup semi-final this week.
His chances of playing time will decrease if Higuaín is signed.

Their subsequent move for Cenk Tosun months later has not panned out to be a success and Everton still need a centre forward.
A player with Giroud’s experience of the Premier League would be ideal, if he is willing to force a move from Chelsea to get more playing time.
Everton’s chances will depend on what happens with Alvaro Morata, whether he stays put or goes, but Chelsea’s potential desire to sign Higuaín is interesting and will certainly shakes things up if they can get a deal done.
