Chelsea’s return to the top eight in the group stages of the Champions League was capped by an impressive win over Barcelona, marking a strong week for the club.

Estevao Willian’s spectacular goal at Stamford Bridge was the standout moment, highlighting the progress made under an ambitious new project.

Since Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali took charge of the club, Chelsea have brought in a wave of young talent designed to build for the future.

The next addition to that squad who fits that bill is going to be Dastan Satpaev from Kairat Almaty.

Just last month, the forward became Kazakhstan’s youngest ever goalscorer at international level after netting against Belgium. And now, he has found the back of the net in the Champions League for the first time.

Even though his team fell 3-2 to FC Copenhagen, Satpaev’s goal was still a historic moment. He became the first player from Kazakhstan to ever score in the competition.

It also puts him among some notable company, ranking as the third-youngest scorer in Champions League history, only behind Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal.

How Chelsea are preparing for Dastan Satpaev’s arrival

Fans are eager to see what the youngster can bring once he makes the move to Stamford Bridge. He has already been tipped to surpass Nicolas Jackson within two years.

Chelsea do not seem keen on waiting too long before giving him a real chance. Satpaev is expected to make the switch at the end of the season.

The club have assigned a coach to work with him throughout this campaign, helping ease his transition into European football. They are hoping he can have a similar impact as Estevao did upon arrival.

Satpaev will not have an easy path into the starting line-up, though. Liam Delap and Joao Pedro are already in the squad, and Emanuel Emegha is also set to join from Strasbourg next summer.
