Gareth Bale caused quite the stir on Tuesday.

The Tottenham loanee is off on international duty with Wales, but was unsurprisingly asked about his future.

Bale’s loan from Real Madrid ends this summer, and it’s unclear whether he will be kept on at Tottenham for another year.

His form has been hot and cold, starting slowly before going on a great run of six goals and three assists in just six games.

Bale’s performances have dipped a little again in the last three outings, and he was an unused substitute against Aston Villa on Sunday.

The Welshman suggested to BBC Sport on Tuesday that his goal was to come to Spurs and get himself fit and ready for the European Championships, before heading back to Real as planned.

Bale may just be honouring his contract and his obligations to Madrid with those comments, but NBA star Josh Hart took the opportunity to mock Spurs.

The New Orleans Pelicans ace, formerly of the Los Angeles Lakers, has mixed allegiances; he was photographed with a Spurs shirt last season, but then claimed to prefer Chelsea.

Hart has now mocked Tottenham on Twitter, claiming Bale ‘used Tottenham for training’ and used them like the NBA G-League, adding that Bale has only seen Spurs as a place for him to get work in before having bigger ideas in mind.
