Arsenal’s Joe Willock enjoyed quite the end to the season – and has shown up a few Chelsea players in the process.

The Gunners sent Willock on loan to Newcastle United during the January transfer window, seeking to get him more playing time.

The move has worked an absolute treat, as Willock has become a fan favourite at Newcastle United thanks to his goalscoring exploits.

Willock’s goal against Fulham on Sunday made it seven goals in seven games, matching Alan Shearer’s club record of seven consecutive games with a goal.

That’s a stunning return from the 21-year-old, and Arsenal fans must be excited about him returning to North London and potentially playing a role next season.

There’s a very interesting stat emerging on Willock too, and it will only add to the belief that he can make a real impact at Arsenal.

The stat is this: no Chelsea player this season managed to score more Premier League goals all season than Willock just did in seven games.

Their top goalscorer was Jorginho with seven, but every single one of them came from the penalty spot.

Mason Mount only managed six. So did Timo Werner. Big summer signing Kai Havertz only managed four, the same as Christian Pulisic.

They may have finished in the top four, but Chelsea’s top players haven’t been finding the net with great regularity.

Arsenal need more goals from midfield, and Willock has provided them at Newcastle, leaving Chelsea stars in his wake in the process.
