Chelsea star Noni Madueke aims dig at Tottenham ahead of London derby

Chelsea winger Noni Madueke has seemingly made a sly dig at former club Tottenham ahead of the London derby between the two sides this Sunday.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the former PSV Eindhoven star revealed that he chose to sign for Chelsea in January due to the Blues being the ideal club for a London-born player, with Madueke spending his youth career at Tottenham before moving to the Netherlands in 2018.

Madueke said: “Most players go through a decision-making phase, but for me, there was no decision to make. I wanted to come back home and I wanted to play in the Premier League, and what better club to choose if you’re from London than Chelsea, it was a no-brainer really.”

Despite Chelsea’s atrocious form in the Premier League and their current league standing, many have been impressed with what they have seen from Madueke since his move in January, and the winger could play a starring role for Graham Potter’s side later today against Tottenham.

Indeed, it would be quite the story if Madueke bags his first Chelsea goal against Tottenham, and after these latest comments, the Spurs fanbase will not be pleased to see a former youth star get one over them at their own stadium, especially in a must-win match.

Both sides are in desperate need for points, and with Tottenham very-much in the hunt for a top-four spot, a win today against Chelsea could be huge in the north London side returning to Europe’s premier club competition in the UEFA Champions League.
