Tottenham Hotspur continue to keep the pressure up on Chelsea at the top of the table.
Chelsea’s Eden Hazard
Chelsea star Eden Hazard spoke to the club’s official website following his side’s hugely important 3-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday, and explained why he and two of his teammates have an extra incentive pip Spurs to the Premier League title this season.
The Blues currently hold a seven point lead over Tottenham, and with just seven games remaining, Antonio Conte’s men are in prime position to win their fifth Premier League crown.
And Hazard told ChelseaFC.com how the Belgian connection between the two clubs gives his side all the more motivation to go on and win the title:
“When we see Tottenham, everything is not done. That is why we want to win the trophy because if we go to the national team they will speak too much! So we need the trophy for Chelsea.”
Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld
Hazard’s teammates Thibaut Courtois and Michy Batshuayi are both part of the Belgium national team setup, whilst Spurs stars Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele are also key members of Roberto Martinez’ side.
This upcoming weekend could have huge relevance in the title race, with Chelsea travelling to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United on Easter Sunday, whilst Tottenham play host to Bournemouth the previous day.
And if Mauricio Pochettino’s men can close the gap to four or five points after those games, then the race will very much be on – something that will cause both excitement and trepidation for both club’s Belgian contingent.
