Chelsea have been rebuffed in their attempts to sign Moises Caicedo and have seen their second offer, believed to be £70 million, rejected by Brighton & Hove Albion.
That’s according to David Ornstein and Andy Naylor of The Athletic.
The website claims that the second offer, which was a written one to Brighton, has been rejected, but Chelsea are determined to try again for Moises Caicedo.
The bid, which was submitted to the Seagulls on Monday, did not include add-ons. The reported offer was an improvement on their first bid to Brighton in June, which was believed to be £60 million.
The 21-year-old has travelled with the Brighton squad for their pre-season tour of the USA ahead of the new season in which Roberto De Zerbi will be hoping to build on the club’s Europa League finish last season.
Brighton’s Colwill pursuit ‘complicating matters’ for Chelsea in Caicedo hunt
According to the same report from The Athletic, Brighton’s reported interest in Levi Colwill is complicating matters.
After Brighton saw a £30 million offer rejected by the West London club (Sky Sports), it seems that their pursuit of the Englishman is making Chelsea’s pursuit of Caicedo tougher.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are adamant that Colwill, who was instrumental in England Under 21s European Championship victory, is a big part of Chelsea’s first-team squad for next season.
This is further emphasised by the knee injury to Wesley Fofana.
There is seemingly a need for centre-back cover at Chelsea, and Colwill would provide that cover for the Frenchman.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have also been linked with Levi Colwill, according to TalkSport, although the Blues remain adamant that the Englishman isn’t for sale.
So much so, that Chelsea are also discussing whether to report Liverpool’s behaviour to the FA, as they view it as tapping up, according to reporter Felix Johnston.
