Baker signed from Chelsea for the season with question marks over his long-term future.
The 23-year-old has had mixed loan spells before, hampering his chance of a first team breakthrough.
A successful spell at Leeds this year could be a double-edged sword for the Whites, and prompt Chelsea to want to retain his services.
Baker though, should be keeping a close eye on Chelsea’s pursuit of Aston Villa star Jack Grealish.
Villa want £30 million for Grealish and Chelsea are leading contenders, with Teamtalk reporting they could win the race by loaning him back for the season.
Grealish moving to Chelsea would put a further block in Baker’s path to their first team.
It would be galling for the Leeds loanee to see Chelsea spending £30 million or thereabouts on a player who is one year younger than him.
Baker has never been given a chance at Chelsea by successive managers, and now Leeds have an opportunity to win him round.
He has to prove himself at Elland Road too, and Leeds’ chances of landing him permanently if Chelsea bring Grealish in this summer, showing Baker there really is little hope of a future at Stamford Bridge.
