Chelsea are considering making a renewed bid for Bayer Leverkusen forward, Andre Schurrle before Friday’s transfer deadline. The Blues had a £16 million bid for the player tuned down by Leverkusen earlier this summer and were warned off making any further bids but the club are set to make one final move for the German. Where would this leave striker Daniel Sturridge?
Sturridge will not be sold for a cut price according to ESPN. The striker is said to be a target for Liverpool as Brendan Rodgers looks to continue his British revolution at the club but the Blues want nothing short of £25 million for the player.
The Metro run with the story that Didier Drogba could be on his way back to the Blues before Christmas. The Ivory Coast captain is eager to train with a Premier League club during the Chinese off-season in order to keep his fitness up ahead of the African Cup of Nations in January and the Shanghai Shenhua striker is keen to do so at former club, Chelsea.
Frank Lampard one day wants to manage the club he has been at since 2001. Sky Sports report how the midfielder has thought about following the likes of club legends Ruud Gullit, Gianluca Vialli and Roberto Di Matteo from the pitch to the dugout.
The Daily Mail report on how Turkish side Fenerbahce are looking to make a double swoop for Chelsea midfielders Michael Essien and Raul Meireles. Essien has been out of contention for some time now at Stamford Bridge but Meireles has seen a fair amount of game-time since his switch from Liverpool in 2011.
On Friday, the Blues will attempt to win their first piece of silverware of the season in the European Super Cup against Atletico Madrid. The club’s official website give a short history of the trophy.
