Leeds United are set to sign Chelsea talent Ethan Ampadu after striking a £10million deal to sign the Wales international.

Ethan Ampadu is poised to leave Chelsea with Leeds United now closing in on a £10million move.

That is according to the London Evening Standard, who claim that Ampadu is on the verge of joining Leeds.

It’s stated that Leeds have made the only concrete bid for Ampadu despite interest from elsewhere.

Ampadu is now being pulled out of Chelsea’s pre-season tour to the United States and will undergo a medical with Leeds.

The Whites have agreed to pay £7million plus £3million in add-ons, with Chelsea adding a sell-on clause into the deal.

Personal terms have now been agreed as backed up by Fabrizio Romano with Ampadu finally poised to end his time with Chelsea.

Ethan Ampadu will hope to kickstart his Leeds United career

Ampadu has been on the Chelsea books since leaving hometown club Exeter City in 2017.

The idea was that Chelsea thought they had secured a top talent for the future.

However, Ampadu has only played once in the Premier League for Chelsea and hasn’t quite fulfilled his potential.

The Wales international has spent most of his time out on loan, joining RB Leipzig, Sheffield United, Venezia and Spezia.

Now 22, the time has come for Ampadu to end this run of loan moves and settle down with a permanent home.

Once hailed as an ‘outstanding’ talent by former Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder, Ampadu now needs to make good on that billing as he prepares to leave Chelsea.

Ampadu is a versatile performer who can play at centre back or in holding midfield, with the latter likely to be his role at Elland Road.

Ampadu will be desperate to impress and ultimately show Chelsea what they’re missing, starting with helping Leeds win promotion.
