Chelsea defender Ian Maatsen has offered praise to Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven after his performance again Arsenal.
Micky van de Ven has been hailed after turning in another strong performance for Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Van de Ven headed into his first North London derby on Sunday afternoon, partnering Cristian Romero in the heart of the Spurs back line.
Romero had a hand in both Arsenal goals, deflecting Bukayo Saka’s shot into the net and then giving away a penalty for Saka’s second.
Tottenham still came out with a 2-2 draw though and Van de Ven turned in a strong performance in the Spurs defence.

Micky van de Ven impressing for Tottenham Hotspur
The Dutchman notched one tackle, one interception, one aerial duel and four clearances for Tottenham against Arsenal.
Those number aren’t mind-blowing but Van de Ven certainly passed the eye test.
A huge centre back who is more than comfortable when it comes to carrying the ball out from the back, Van de Ven looked very impressive on Sunday.
Signed from Wolfsburg for £34.5million rising to £43million, Van de Ven arrived as a raw yet promising centre back.
Gary Lineker has hailed Van de Ven’s performance as ‘outstanding’ alongside Romero, seemingly loving what he saw from Tottenham’s left-sided centre back.

Van de Ven praised by Chelsea ace
The Spurs defender took to Instagram to note that whilst Tottenham ‘aimed for more’, they were happy with a point in a tough match.
Van de Ven received replies from Brighton and Hove Albion defender Jan-Paul van Hecke and Feyenoord ace Quilindschy Hartman, as well as Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen.
Van de Ven and Maatsen know each other from the Dutch national team setup and the Chelsea ace loved Van de Ven’s display on Sunday.
Maatsen posted ‘topper’ on Van de Ven’s Instagram, a Dutch phrase which can be used to praise an ‘excellent person’ or a performance in football terms.
Tottenham fans would certainly agree with that as Van de Ven goes from strength to strength in North London.
