Jose Mourinho’s side responded well to dropping points against Sunderland last weekend and the boss will be pleased with the momentum the side has created heading into a busy Christmas and New Year period.
Here are our player ratings for the game last night.
Courtois – 6
Did well to keep his concentration during the opening exchanges but had little else to do during the match.
Ivanovic – 6
Does what it says on the tin. Defended well when pressured and created extra width when the side needed it.
Cahill – 5
Difficult to judge him as he only played one half. Looked clumsy after a nasty head collision.
Terry – 7
Superb in the face of some fast and intelligent attacking players. Got himself up for the match and led by example.
Azpilicueta – 7
Dealt well with the pace of Aaron Lennon. He’s been one of the side’s most consistent players this season.
Willian – 7
Worked hard throughout the game and showed intelligence to drop into positions where he could get involved in the build up.
Matic – 8
Protected the Chelsea centre backs superbly. He is the model of the defensive midfielder that all sides need.
Fabregas – 7
Wasn’t really troubled in the middle and controlled the pace and flow of the game effectively.
Oscar – 7
Great assist in the first-half. He was a constant threat and refused to stay in one position.
Hazard – 8
Got the better of any Tottenham player who tried to stop him and rightly grabbed a goal.
Drogba – 8
Rolled back the years and looked imperious up front throughout.
Subs
Zouma – 6
Looked solid when he came on for Cahill. He’ll definitely get more game time this season.
