Chelsea want Piero Hincapie and have now joined Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign the Ecuadorian defender.
The Blues are going through big changes having been taken over by Todd Boehly over the summer.
Graham Potter is in as manager following Thomas Tuchel’s exit, Christopher Vivell looks set to arrive soon and Laurence Stewart has been appointed as technical director.
Potter is going through some rough form of late but needs backing with signings in 2023 and a new defender could be on his wish list.

Chelsea want Piero Hincapie
A natural left-footer would be ideal for Potter’s three-man defence and Chelsea appear to be targeting one.
Marc Cucurella looks out of sorts as a left-sided centre back and is better off as a wing back, so Potter will want a signing there.
The Mirror now claim that Chelsea scouts are watching Bayer Leverkusen star Piero Hincapie closely.
It’s stated that Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are both tracking Hincapie too.
Arsenal may need another left-sided centre back to offer competition for Gabriel Magalhaes and Hincapie fits the bill.
Tottenham signed Clement Lenglet on loan from Barcelona over the summer but Spurs may look at other options.
Hincapie isn’t the tallest centre back ever at 6ft tall but he is quick and very capable on the ball.
Signed from Talleres in 2021, Hincapie has been in and out of the Leverkusen side in Germany but appears to have enormous potential.
One thing to note here is that Hincapie could follow the line of Ecuador stars to play for Graham Potter.
Piero Hincapie, Moises Caicedo and Jeremy Sarmiento have all featured under Potter at Brighton and they would surely have good things to say about Potter.
Arsenal and Tottenham will keep watching Hincapie, but they now have a new rival in the race as Chelsea join this London battle.
