Chelsea’s ownership want to sell Ruben Loftus-Cheek this summer – but the Newcastle United target is reluctant to leave.

The London Evening Standard reported on Thursday that Loftus-Cheek is one player the Chelsea owners want to leave.

Loftus-Cheek earns a staggering £150,000-a-week and Chelsea seemingly want him to go.

However, Loftus-Cheek is allegedly ‘reluctant’ to leave Chelsea having joined the club at the age of eight.

Leaving Stamford Bridge won’t be an easy decision for Loftus-Cheek and he may fancy his chances at carving out a first-team role.

17 starts for Loftus-Cheek this season just isn’t enough though and at 27, he needs to think about first-team minutes.

Loftus-Cheek won’t be short of interest but may well need to take a pay cut in order to leave Chelsea.

Newcastle United face a battle to sign Ruben Loftus-Cheek but he should jump at the chance

News of Chelsea allegedly wanting rid of Loftus-Cheek may well be of interest to Newcastle United.

90Min reported in April that Crystal Palace, Fulham, Leicester City, Newcastle, West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers all want Loftus-Cheek.

The midfielder may be reluctant to leave Chelsea but if Newcastle come calling, he should seriously consider the move.

Eddie Howe is building something special at Newcastle and he is really getting the best out of players.

Joe Willock is a good comparison; a talented midfielder who couldn’t quite land a starring role after emerging in the youth ranks of a top London club.

Now shining under Howe at Newcastle, Willock is fulfilling his potential and Loftus-Cheek should want the same.

This won’t be an easy pursuit for Newcastle, and you could hardly blame them for not fancying those wages, but Loftus-Cheek should certainly fancy the move to Tyneside.
