Chelsea are increasingly confident of winning the race to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney amid links with a move to Arsenal.
Ivan Toney could leave Brentford in January and Chelsea now believe a move to Stamford Bridge is in the pipeline.
That is according to a report from talkSPORT, who claim that Chelsea are ‘confident’ that Toney will join in January.
Toney isn’t in action right now having been hit with a ban for gambling offences at the end of last season.
The 27-year-old is allowed to train with Brentford again but he won’t play another Premier League game until 2024.
There is a growing expectation that Toney will be leaving the Bees when the transfer market does re-open – and Chelsea are set to push.

Chelsea confident of signing Ivan Toney
TalkSPORT suggest that Chelsea believe they are in the box seat to sign Toney during the January transfer window.
It’s stated that Brentford want around £60million for Toney given that he will be entering the final 18 months of his contract.
The report claims that Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is ‘leading the charge’ to sign Toney, believing that he is exactly what the Blues need.
Chelsea signed Nicolas Jackson over the summer but the Senegalese forward has only scored one Premier League goal this season.
Toney could be the answer as a proven Premier League striker who can lead the line and ultimately find the net.
A January bid is now expected with Chelsea keen to beat their Premier League rivals to a January deal.

Arsenal really like Toney
Chelsea aren’t the only club in the mix here with London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur also keen on signing Toney.
The Mirror claim that people inside Arsenal really like Toney and would love to bring him to the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners are going for the Premier League title this season and that extra firepower from Toney could help them get over the line.
Arsenal do already have Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah though, which could tempt Toney to go for guaranteed minutes at Chelsea.
Much can change between now and January; how many times did we hear that Arsenal were confident of signing Mykhailo Mudryk?
He ended up at Chelsea and who knows, maybe Arsenal can pull off a similar heist by signing Toney ahead of Chelsea.
