Well, Graham Potter has joined Chelsea and it could potentially be bad news for Liverpool regarding one target.

The Blues fired Thomas Tuchel on Wednesday morning following a shock 1-0 defeat by Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League one night previous.

According to Sky Sports, the Brighton & Hove Albion manager arrived at Chelsea’s training ground to put the finishing touches on the appointment and only hours later he was confirmed on Twitter.

And now, they could suddenly become favourites to sign a player linked to Liverpool.

That’s because Studio Futbol in August reported that Liverpool were preparing a £42 million offer to sign Moises Caicedo, which obviously didn’t materialise but with January only a few months away, and Jurgen Klopp still needing a midfielder, renewed interest is very possible.

However, Caicedo is a player who came up under the wing of Potter at the Amex and with Chelsea also credited with an interest in bringing him to Stamford Bridge, why wouldn’t he continue his development under the English boss in West London?

Even more bad news for Liverpool is the fact that Potter will also need to freshen up that midfield long term and bringing Caicedo with him to the Premier League giants eventually certainly makes sense.

None of this is an exact science, and rejecting a transfer to Anfield would be a brazen move if they did invite him to become part of Klopp’s squad.

But the Potter factor is a potential gamechanger and one that could lead to Liverpool being snubbed.
