Jose Enrique has warned Liverpool to ‘wake up’ in the Premier League because Chelsea ‘mean business’ in the transfer market amid rumours about RB Leipzig duo Josko Gvardiol and Christopher Nkunku, as he posted on Twitter.
After spending well over £200 million during the summer transfer market under new American owner Todd Boehly, it seems as though Chelsea are going to go at the throats of the transfer window again.
Two names that have been thrown about are £44 million-rated Leipzig defender Gvardiol and his club teammate, Nkunku – there are suggestions that a pre-contract agreement has been signed by the free-scoring French winger for £53 million.

It’s another sign that, whilst Roman Abramovich is out of the Stamford Bridge door, his presence is still felt because the Blues are still spending like crazy.
That’s not reflective out on the pitch because they have started the season in an indifferent fashion, which led to Thomas Tuchel’s sacking and the arrival of Graham Potter from Brighton.
Despite that, the West London club are still performing better than Liverpool, who after seven Premier League games, are sitting ninth and have only won two matches.
Many expected the Reds to be pushing for the Premier League title, but at this rate, they have a fight on their hands for Champions League places, as former left-back Enrique reacted to Chelsea’s rumoured transfer move for Gvardiol and how Liverpool need to get their act together quickly because others around them will get stronger.
“Chelsea mean business,” said Enrique. “If we don’t wake up, (then this) is going to be difficult to even make the top four.”

PRESSURE ON LIVERPOOL AND CHELSEA
Even though Chelsea sacked Tuchel, it wasn’t that bad that they needed to boot out the German, and even then, they are currently only one point outside of the Champions League places.
It’s a different story for those on Merseyside because, once again, over the weekend, they dropped points, this time a 3-3 draw against Potter’s former club.
Their 2-0 win over Rangers in the Champions League on Tuesday night might be a turning point, but with Tottenham’s strong start, Arsenal sitting top of the Premier League and Manchester City up to their old tricks, then those spaces for Champions League football are only get smaller.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if a big name misses out on a top-four finish in May, and if that happens, then it will wreck havoc on that team’s summer transfer plans.
