The Stamford Bridge man is highly rated by the Reds manager – £60m value already according to Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has suggested that Mason Mount could be back in time to face Liverpool in Sunday’s big Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge, as reported by Sky Sports News.
The 20-year-old, who has been sensational for the Blues this season, was forced off early in Tuesday’s Champions League defeat to Valencia following a heavy challenge by Francis Coquelin.
Despite initial fears over potential ligament damage, Mount appears to have made a swift recovery and could now face the Premier League leaders in West London, with Lampard confirming in conversation with Sky Sports News: “He’s got a chance. The image of the tackle afterwards made it look really bad, but hopefully it’s not so bad.
“We’re trying to get him moving today and it’s one I’ll have to call just before the game with another 24 hours in the bank. The good thing with Mason is his attitude is so good that he’ll give everything to get out there and play for this club, particularly in a game of this size.”
Mount has staked his claim as one of the breakthrough stars this Premier League season, not to mention a future England prodigy, with three goals in Chelsea’s opening five league games, carrying on where he left off from his loan spell with Derby County last season – 11 goals and six assists.
Indeed, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has spoken very highly of Mount and teammates Tammy Abraham and Callum Hudson-Odoi, being quoted by Goal.com as saying: “Tammy Abraham is now a 60million player, Mason Mount for sure 60million – if not more, Hudson-Odoi was [worth] that already.”
Mason came through the ranks at Stamford Bridge and, as well as his successful loan spell at Pride Park last team, he has also spent time on loan at Dutch side Vitesse.
