Chelsea are considered to be ahead of Arsenal in the race for Ajax star Mohammed Kudus after making a more convincing proposal.
Arsenal could miss out on Mohammed Kudus with Chelsea making firm moves for the Ajax star.
That is according to The Independent, who claim that Chelsea are now leading the race to sign Kudus.
Kudus is allegedly available for around £40million this summer and a move to London is looking increasingly likely.
It’s stated that the feeling is that Chelsea are ready to price Arsenal out of a move for Kudus.
The Gunners would like to sign Kudus as a versatile midfield option for Mikel Arteta’s squad.
However, Chelsea are thought to have ‘put together a more convincing package’ than Arsenal right now.
There is still time for Arsenal to come back with a new proposal but Chelsea seem confident that they can blow the Gunners out of the race.
Mohammed Kudus has versatility which should appeal to Arsenal and Chelsea
Kudus hit 18 goals and seven assists in all competitions last season, enjoying a superb campaign with Ajax.
The 22-year-old also impressed at the World Cup in Qatar, scoring twice in Ghana’s 3-2 win over South Korea.
Premier League clubs have been linked with Kudus for a while now and this seems like the right time to move.
Kudus has proven himself as a major threat in the final third but he has shown impressive versatility throughout his time with Ajax and Nordsjaelland.
Kudus has operated as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder, right-sided winger and even as a false nine.
There have also been times in which Kudus has played as a sitting midfielder, where he can get on the ball and dictate play.
Kudus – hailed as ‘really special’ by Dutch striker Tom van Weert – has so much ability and such a rounded game that he has made an impact in so many positions.
That will certainly appeal to Mikel Arteta, who has heavily valued versatility in his signings, as well as Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino.
The Blues currently lead the race but Arsenal may yet make a push to reunite Kudus with his former Ajax teammate Jurrien Timber in North London.
