Chelsea may be preparing a huge wage packet in an audacious attempt to lure Yaya Toure away from Manchester City.The Ivorian star is allegedly unsettled at the club amidst reports that the club won’t look to offer him a new contract next summer, with David Platt saying that no-one is indispensable at the club. Toure’s agent, Dmitri Selcuk is reported to have said “He would like a new challenge, could sign for many big clubs like Chelsea and Bayern Munich.”
John Terry’s deadline to appeal his four match ban for racially abusing Anton Ferdinand is approaching, with the defender having until 6pm on Thursday to respond to the FA charge. Terry has been urged by several parties to accept the ban and the £220,000 fine, and lay the matter to rest.
In international news, Ashley Cole won his 99th cap for England as they drew 1-1 in Poland, but Gary Cahill didn’t play a part in the match.
Brazilian club Corinthians have dismissed the reports linking midfielder Paulinho to Chelsea. Their manager Tite said he had “no idea where this information has come from,” and that money didn’t buy everything. The holding midfielder has been linked to several big European clubs recently.
In other transfer news, PSG have cooled their interest in Ashley Cole. Leonardo, their sporting director, say they are not looking at anyone. This could spark a tussle between Real Madrid, Manchester City and Manchester United for the left back, who may llok to leave due to not being offered a longer new contract at Chelsea.
Roberto Di Matteo has discussed how he has spent the international break working with the club’s youngsters, describing the quiet spell as a good opportunity to have a look at some of the youth talent at Chelsea.
There has been news relating to two of the younger players currently out on loan, with Werder Bremen insisting Kevin de Bruyne is happy at the club, despite mixed reports continuing to appear in the German media. Another Belgian wonderkid, Romelu Lukaku, looks set to return from injury in time to line up for West Brom to face Manchester City at the weekend.
