Chelsea are closing in on a deal to sign Ecuadorian talent Kendry Paez amid links to both Liverpool and Newcastle United.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Chelsea are nearing a ‘verbal agreement’ to secure Paez’s signature.

Romano says that the deal is ‘close to be completed’ with Paez on the verge of committing his future to the Blues.

Paez is only 15 though and can only join Chelsea at the age of 18, as per post-Brexit rules.

That won’t happen until May 4th, 2025 – meaning Chelsea face a wait to bring the midfielder to London.

This will feel like another big coup for Chelsea and their development ranks given the competition for Paez’s signature.

90Min reported just last week that Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle United had all initiated contact with Paez’s agents.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzeig, Inter and Atalanta were also mentioned too with some of Europe’s top clubs chasing Paez.

Chelsea-bound Kendry Paez tipped for big future

Ecuadorian talents appear to be in the rise at the moment.

Moises Caicedo and Piero Hincapie are wanted men ahead of the summer whilst Pervis Estupinan has impressed for Brighton and Hove Albion.

Paez could be the next big Ecuadorian talent and that’s why there has been so much interest.

The teenage midfielder currently plays for Independiente del Valle over in Ecuador, which is where Caicedo emerged too.

Paez has already played five times for Ecuador’s Under-17’s and has bagged three goals.

Paez has earned rave reviews for his ability on the ball and has shown the quality to make an impact in the final third from midfield.

Chelsea clearly see a big future for Paez, and will be delighted to have seemingly beaten their Premier League rivals to his signature.
