Chelsea want Josko Gvardiol and are now willing to send Timo Werner to RB Leipzig as part of a deal for the Tottenham Hotspur target.

Thomas Tuchel has already managed to bring in a new defender in Kalidou Koulibaly but wants another one.

Chelsea have missed out on Jules Kounde after the Sevilla defender chose a move to Barcelona instead.

That means Chelsea are now looking at other targets and they are once again being linked with a move for Leipzig star Gvardiol.

Chelsea want Josko Gvardiol

Gvardiol has been linked with Chelsea on a number of occasions and here we are again.

The Daily Mail now report that Chelsea want to try and use striker Timo Werner as a makeweight in a deal for Gvardiol.

Leipzig are keen to re-sign Werner just two years since selling him to Chelsea.

Werner has managed just 10 goals in 56 Premier League outings and Chelsea are seemingly ready to cut their losses and move him on.

Yet having realised that Leipizg are keen, Chelsea are seemingly trying their luck with a part-exchange deal for Gvardiol.

Leipzig are understandably reluctant to lose Gvardiol and even the offer of Werner returning may not be enough to convince them to sell.

Gvardiol, 21, has rapidly become one of the top young defenders in Europe having joined Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb.

The left-footed centre back isn’t the tallest defender at 6ft 1in, but he is very quick and incredibly strong.

Gvardiol has understandably attracted major interest and reports have suggested that Tottenham Hotspur asked about a deal for the Croatian this summer.

A deal looks to be beyond Tottenham given the huge fee Leipzig are demanding, but Chelsea are hoping that the offer of Werner will help them.

Chelsea have looked at other left-sided centre backs in Nathan Ake and Presnel Kimpembe, but it’s Gvardiol who now seems to be top of the list.
