A round-up of news and gossip relating to Chelsea over the past 24 hours.
Upon the squad’s return from a pre-season tour in America, Eden Hazard has spoken of his joy at having younger brother Thorgan joining the London club. Although Thorgan will see most of his playing time in the Under-21s league, older brother Eden is excited at the prospect of lining up alongside his brother. The brothers were both playing youth football at Tubize but never played in the same side but Eden is hopeful of playing with Thorgan soon enough.
Chelsea are preparing a final bid for Wigan’s Victor Moses. Chelsea have already made two bids but have been given short shrift by owner David Whelan. The young striker has a year left to run on his contract but Wigan are adamant they will not sell unless a suitable fee is received.
Gael Kakuta says he is prepared to leave Chelsea, whether it be permanently or on loan, in search of first-team football. 21-year-old Kakuta joined the club in 2007 from Lens in controversial circumstances but has only made 16 appearances for the club. He has enjoyed loan spells at Fulham, Bolton and Dijon and his performances at the then Ligue 1 side has garnered interest from Marseille. He underlines that his main objective is to play regularly.
Kevin De Bruyne is another Chelsea player that has declared his intentions to leave Chelsea in pursuit of regular football. The player was signed in January but was immediately loaned back to Genk and after the arrivals of Marin, Oscar and Hazard, looks increasingly unlikely to find much playing time in the first-team. Di Matteo has reportedly acquiesced to the Belgian’s demands to leave on loan for first-team football. De Bruyne looks likely to move to Werden Bremen, which incidentally is the club Marko Marin left.
