Chelsea’s youngsters took on Bristol Rovers in the EFL Cup yesterday, but Gilmour was not with the squad.
With Chelsea senior side due to play in the League Cup this evening there are now strong suspicions that Gilmour could be brought in Frank Lampard’s line-up.
Gilmour shone during Chelsea’s pre-season and there are now massively high hopes for the youngster at Stamford Bridge.
The midfielder appears to have a great deal of technical ability, which could make him a star of the future.
Lampard has already shown that he is keen to give Chelsea’s top prospects opportunities, and Gilmour looks like one of their brightest talents below first-team level.
Chelsea’s game tonight comes against Grimsby Town, which makes them favourites to win, even if Lampard does name a much changed line-up.
