Tottenham Hotspur are out of the Carabao Cup after a shock defeat away at League Two side Colchester United on Tuesday night.

Spurs had lost 2-1 at Leicester City on Saturday afternoon to continue their away day blues, but many had suggested that those issues would be forgotten against Colchester.

However, Tottenham once again fell flat on the road, as they could only manage a 0-0 draw last night, and with Christian Eriksen and Lucas Moura failing in the penalty shoot-out, Tottenham were consigned to defeat.

Spurs may have made changes to their side, but they still should have been able to beat Colchester, with the likes of Lucas Moura and Dele Alli starting.

Tottenham have been slammed for their failure against the fourth-tier side, and Mauricio Pochettino is now coming under increasing pressure from Spurs fans.

Whilst Spurs were embarrassed, their big rivals were able to mock Pochettino’s men, and Chelsea themselves appeared to have a chuckle.

Chelsea’s Twitter account just happened to post a video of the Blues beating Spurs – on penalties – in the Carabao Cup last season, with Chelsea fans left laughing at the timing of the post, laughing at the club for rubbing salt in Tottenham’s wounds.

Arsenal supporters weren’t going to be left out, poking fun at their North London rivals having advanced into the next round of the competition themselves, with Gunners fans certainly enjoying last night’s games.
