Rangers managed to bolster their midfield on deadline day in October, luring Bongani Zungu on loan from Amiens.
The South African will now look to make his move permanent, but with Ryan Jack, Steven Davis, Glen Kamara, Joe Aribo and Scott Arfield all in contention too, it won’t be easy for him.
What makes it even more difficult is that Rangers continue to be linked with other midfielders – including Billy Gilmour.
The Scottish Sun report that Rangers have made an approach to take Gilmour on loan for the rest of the season, in the hope of luring him back to Glasgow.
The 19-year-old came up through the Rangers ranks, but left for a move to Chelsea in 2017, where he has shown real promise.
He played against Krasnodar in the Champions League earlier this week, and Chelsea may not be so keen to loan him out – especially with so many midfielders already at Ibrox.

Chelsea fans have been reacting to the rumours, suggesting that playing in the Scottish Premiership would be a downgrade for him at this point in his career.
Some simply think there is no chance of Gilmour heading to Rangers, and would rather see him head to a top five European league than Scotland, believing he is already too good to play in Scotland.
