Chelsea and Manchester City drew 1-1 on Sunday, but how did the visitors’ Gary Cahill do in the eyes of his fans?
For so long it looked like Chelsea would hang on for a vital win in the Premier League title race.
An Andre Schurrle goal had put Jose Mourinho’s side ahead with just 19 minutes of normal-time to play and if the Blues held out, they would maintain their 100 per cent start to the season and deliver another blow to City’s hopes of retaining the title.
But an unlikely hero ultimately ensured the hosts earned a point (or perhaps it was not so much unlikely as always meant to be).
Frank Lampard stepped off the bench to score against his former side, and rob the defenders he once played in front of a hard-earned clean-sheet.
One such player was Gary Cahill, who had impressed up until that point but will head back to London disappointed not to have stopped his former teammate from equalising.
Cahill won one tackle, made five effective clearances and won one duel against City. He also made one effective headed clearance and two outfield blocks.
Alongside that his passing accuracy was a relatively impressive 89.47%. But despite the efforts of him and John Terry, Chelsea failed to keep a clean-sheet and dropped points for the first time this season as a result.
| Won Tackle | Effective Clearance | Effective Head Clearance | Duel Won | Outfield Block | Pass Accuracy | Mins | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gary Cahill | 1 | 5 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 89.47 | 90 |
