The Chelsea forward didn’t impress many fans in the first-half of the 3-1 win over Leicester City, but managed to get the crucial equalising goal after the interval.

With Diego Costa and Loic Remy both sidelined through injury last night for Chelsea, the burden to lead the line against Leicester City fell upon 37-year-old Didier Drogba.

The former Ivory Coast international is highly regarded at Stamford Bridge for all that he has done for the club in the past. He has been part of every Premier League title success enjoyed by the Blues, and the greatest night in their history when they won the Champions League back in 2012.

Nowadays his role in the squad is limited as cover, and it’s fair to say that he is well past his best – with that fact reflected in the Twitter response he generated on the back of his first-half display against the Foxes on Wednesday, where the league leaders found themselves a Marc Albrighton goal down to their relegation-threatened hosts.

Some were demanding that he be hauled off, with his limitations being exposed by lowly opposition. Naturally, Drogba scored the crucial equaliser at the start of the second half to give the Blues the platform they required to go on and win the game through goals from John Terry and Ramires, with another top-flight crown now within touching distance.

A selection of the tweets below are from half time and full time, so here is what was said about Drogba during and after last night’s game at the King Power Stadium:
