Manchester United lifted their first ever Europa League trophy on Wednesday, as goals from Paul Pogba and Henrik Mkhitaryan sealed a comfortably 2-0 win.
The experience of Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United was too much for a young Ajax side as they struggled to build any momentum against their Premier League opponents.
The Dutch side, who have an average age of 22, had no answer to United’s packed defence and struggled to test goalkeeper Sergio Romero throughout the 90 minutes.
The capital club were participating in their first European final since 1996 and their 15th in total, last winning a European title in 1995, where they beat AC Milan 1-0 to lift the Champion’s League trophy.

There was one bright spark for Ajax, however, as on-loan Chelsea winger Bertrand Traore was a menace throughout, terrorising Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind down the left hand side.
The 21-year-old has been a regular in Ajax’s starting line-up, scoring nine goals in his 24 Eredivisie appearances this season.
The Burkina-Faso international also contributed four goals and four assists en-route to the Europa League final, and his impressive display has prompted Chelsea fans to react on Twitter.
