Chelsea player Kenedy could end up at Leeds United on deadline day, as Marcelo Bielsa’s side desperately look to bring in depth amid numerous injuries. Chelsea fans have discussed a potential move for the Brazilian.
Kenedy, 25, has been recalled this month by Thomas Tuchel – halfway through a season-long loan in his home country with Flamengo. Indeed, it is the story of his Chelsea spell – since joining the club in 2015.
He has been on loan at five different clubs – most notably at Newcastle, where he spent 18 months under Rafa Benitez following the Toon’s return to the Premier League. His best spell came at Granada in La Liga.
Clocking up 44 appearances, he scored eight goals and laid on six assists. But he has failed to find a permanent home despite 27 senior appearances for Chelsea – also going on loan to Watford, Getafe and Flamengo.
Now, Kenedy has entered the final 18 months of his contract and Express journalist Ryan Taylor has reported on YouTube that there could be “movement” on deadline day with Leeds adding Kenedy to their shortlist.
What are Chelsea fans saying as Leeds eye late Kenedy move?
Leeds need players – simple as that. The club have failed to bring in Brenden Aaronson this month, while Liverpool’s Takumi Minamino could now be available after the Reds chose to spend big on Luis Diaz.
What Kenedy offers is a trait Bielsa loves – versatility. Left-back, left wing, right wing, even as a no.10, Kenedy is effective. Chelsea fans have reacted on Twitter to the news Leeds could get Kenedy – and have backed a move.
