Chelsea fell to defeat on Sunday, losing 2-0 at home to Liverpool in a game where pretty much everything went wrong for the Blues.

They had navigated the first half well, but Andreas Christensen was given a straight red card for hauling down Sadio Mane before the break, and Liverpool took advantage.

Mane headed Liverpool in front after half time, and he then capitalised on Kepa Arrizabalaga’s shocking error to make it 2-0.

Jorginho failed with a late penalty as Alisson pulled off a save, leaving Chelsea with a home defeat after a testing afternoon.

If there was one bright spot for Chelsea, it was the performance of defender Fikayo Tomori, who came on as a substitute following Christensen’s red card.

Tomori made eight clearances, two tackles and a tackle in a strong second-half display, which may leave some confused about his future.

ESPN reported earlier this month that Tomori is set for a loan move to Everton, with talks advanced following Chelsea’s move to sign Thiago Silva.

However, Chelsea fans have taken to Twitter to hail Tomori for a ‘fantastic’ and ‘excellent’ performance, noting that he is much better than Christensen or Antonio Rudiger.

Fans begged Frank Lampard not to loan Tomori out, telling him to stop the possible deal with Everton as allowing him to go would be a ‘mistake’.
