Chelsea are now considered likely to cool their interest in Michael Olise despite a release clause in his new Crystal Palace contract.

Michael Olise has signed a new deal with Crystal Palace but it does contain a release clause which can be activated next summer.

That is according to the London Evening Standard, who claim that Olise does have an exit clause as part of his new deal.

Olise looked set to move to Chelsea at one point in the summer, but Palace convinced him to sign a new contract.

The Blues were planning to activate a £35million release clause but the release clause in his new contract is thought to be ‘significantly higher’.

The exact amount is unclear but Palace have made sure that they receive a major fee if anybody pounces for Olise.

Chelsea unlikely to go back for Michael Olise now

Chelsea seemingly wanted to bring in a homegrown wide man before the transfer window slammed shut.

Olise was the top target but they ended up signing Cole Palmer from Manchester City instead.

The Standard now claim that Chelsea are likely to cool their interest in Olise moving forward, even with that release clause in place.

Chelsea not only have Palmer but also Noni Madueke, another homegrown, left-footed winger who likes to cut inside.

Adding Olise too would be overkill and Chelsea seem ready to abandon their interest in Olise.

Door could be open for Arsenal to go for Olise

Olise is still out injured at the moment and the summer window is a long, long way away, so nobody will be thinking all that seriously about signing him just yet.

There has been other interest though with 90Min reporting in July that both Arsenal and Manchester City fancy signing Olise, who has been hailed as ‘top drawer’ by Martin Keown.

City have moved to sign another winger in Jeremy Doku, but we can’t rule out Pep Guardiola’s men making a huge move for Olise having sold Palmer.

Arsenal have liked Olise for a while but selling him on the idea of coming in as competition for Bukayo Saka down the right side may be tough.

The Gunners would no doubt love to add Olise and Chelsea backing away certainly opens the door for Mikel Arteta’s men, but Olise has already prioritised first-team football once with his Palace contract and may yet do it again.
