Rafa Benitez reportedly wants a £100million transfer budget to stay on as Newcastle manager. Which exciting targets could he sign if he gets it?

Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is seen during the Premier League match between Newcastle United and Chelsea at St. James Park on May 13, 2018 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

Rafa Benitez is reportedly demanding a £100million transfer budget to spend this summer in order to remain as Newcastle United manager.

That is according to the Express, with Benitez currently negotiating a new contract with the Magpies with his current deal set to expire in 2019.

The Spaniard’s future at St James’ Park has been cast into doubt with the news that West Ham United have made the 58-year-old their number one target to replace David Moyes as boss, but if he does get his way then these are the deals being rumoured by the Chronicle that Newcastle could complete.

Martin Dubravka

The most likely transfer to be confirmed, with the goalkeeper having a £5million option to buy clause written into the loan move Dubravka made from Sparta Prague in January.

Craig Dawson

Both right-back and central defence are two areas Benitez is keen to improve and Dawson ticks both boxes, with the 28-year-old linked with a £15million exit from West Bromwich Albion by the Daily Mail following their relegation to the Championship.

Kenedy

Another who joined the Tynesiders as a loanee in the last window and one the club are keen to tie down permanently, with the Mirror reporting parent club Chelsea want £20million for the player also being watched by Liverpool.

Garry Rodrigues

An exciting winger who has scored 10 goals in 39 appearances for Galatasaray this term to help them to the top of the table and an expected Super Lig title, with the Shields Gazette outlining a £20million bid is being considered by the Toon.

Nicolai Jorgensen

If one area really does need improving it is upfront and the Magpies saw a £15million bid for this striker rejected by Feyenoord in January, who the Chronicle reports are holding out for £20million.

Wild card – David Luiz

Benitez is a huge fan of Luiz and made a move to sign the Blues defender in January, but the Shields Gazette reported Newcastle could not afford a player who Chelsea paid £34million to re-sign from Paris Saint-Germain in 2016.

However, the 31-year-old has since been marginalised by boss Antonio Conte, but with the Italian tipped to leave Stamford Bridge this potential transfer very much falls into the ‘hopeful’ category.
