Chelsea were forced to delete a post celebrating Enzo Fernandez’s equaliser for Argentina against England following backlash from supporters.
Fernandez scored with less than 10 minutes to play in the World Cup semi-final and cupped his ears to the England supporters in Atlanta.
The midfielder plays in the Premier League but his goal caused some controversy and resulted in Chelsea backtracking on their post.

Chelsea forced to delete Enzo Fernandez post
Following his equaliser, Chelsea shared a post of the 25-year-old’s celebration with an explosion emoji.
Unsurprisingly, the 85th minute goal didn’t go down well with the English contingent of the Chelsea fanbase, who hit out at the club for celebrating the goal.
Lautaro Martinez then headed home the winner in the 93rd minute for the defending world champions to continue England’s wait for a first World Cup trophy win since 1966.
Fans of other top flight clubs with Argentine players have also criticised their sides for celebrating the Argentina win, including Emiliano Martinez at Aston Villa, Cristian Romero at Tottenham and Alexis Mac Allister at Liverpool.
Enzo Fernandez is already on thin ice with Chelsea fans
There is already some concern around Fernandez’s future at Stamford Bridge and his celebrations won’t have done anything to soften the blow.
Back in April, Chelsea suspended Fernandez for two games after he spoke about a possible move to Real Madrid in the summer.
The LaLiga giants have since released a statement confirming that they won’t be pursuing a move for the 25-year-old.
Xabi Alonso has already said that he wants to keep the midfielder and sees him as an integral part of his plans going forward.
