Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Montpellier forward Elye Wahi with talks heading in the right direction.
Arsenal target Elye Wahi could soon join Chelsea and then immediately go out on loan to Strasbourg.
That is according to a report from Foot Mercato, who claim that Chelsea are progressing with their move for Wahi.
It’s stated that ‘discussions are progressing well’ and Chelsea are now hopeful of signing Wahi this week.
The report highlights that Arsenal and Newcastle United have been keen on signing Wahi.
However, it’s Chelsea who are moving closer to signing Wahi and the deal appears to be closer.

Elye Wahi expected to join Chelsea… and then Strasbourg
Chelsea seemingly don’t see Wahi as a player who will be making an instant impact though.
20-year-old Wahi was outstanding in Ligue 1 last season, smashing 19 goals in 33 Ligue 1 appearances.
The Frenchman is being backed for a huge future and certainly fits Chelsea’s approach of targeting top young players.
Chelsea aren’t viewing Wahi as an immediate Premier League player though as they want to immediately loan him out.

Todd Boehly and BlueCo have just taken over at French club Strasbourg and have appointed Patrick Vieira as their new manager.
Chelsea seem keen to sign players and loan them straight on to Strasbourg for regular first-team action.
Foot Mercato believe that Wahi would be one of them, which would feel like a strange situation – especially for Montpellier.
Montpellier finished 10 points and three places ahead of Strasbourg in the Ligue 1 table last season.
Yet now, with Chelsea’s involvement, they look set to lose their star striker and see him turn out for Strasbourg next season.
That would sting for Montpellier, but Chelsea will just be buzzing to beat Arsenal and many more clubs to Wahi’s signature.
