Chelsea may have signed two goalkeepers in the summer transfer window, but Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been linked with Everton and England star Jordan Pickford.

And, it seems that there is a chance that Chelsea could be able to sign the 29-year-old goalkeeper as early as the January transfer window.

Chelsea linked with Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford

Earlier this month, 90min reported that Chelsea are interested in signing Jordan Pickford from Premier League rivals Everton.

The report has claimed that Chelsea are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper despite signing two new players for that position in the summer transfer window.

And Pickford, described as “incredible” and “fantastic” by Tottenham Hotspur and England international central defender Eric Dier in The London Evening Standard in July 2018, is on the radar of Chelsea.

The former Premier League and UEFA Champions League sold Edouard Mendy, while Kepa Arrizabalaga moved to Real Madrid on loan in the summer of 2023.

Chelsea signed Robert Sanchez from Brighton and Hove Albion and brought in Đorđe Petrović from the New England Revolution.

Everton could be forced to sell Jordan Pickford

The Mirror has now reported that Everton could be forced to sell Jordan Pickford in the January transfer window if the 777 Partners takeover is blocked.

Farhad Moshiri has told his shares at Everton to the 777 Partners, but the takeover is subject to approval from the Premier League, Football Association and Financial Conduct Authority.

Everton have financial issues, and, according to The Mirror, if the takeover does not go through, then the Toffees could be forced to sell some of their best players in January, including Pickford, Amadou Onana and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Everton, Pickford and Chelsea.

The Toffees are among the clubs fighting for survival in the Premier League, and they simply cannot afford to lose the £110,000-a-week (SalarySport) Pickford in the middle of the season.
