Everton are having a close look at Chelsea talent Malik Mothersille having brought the teenage contract rebel in on trial.
Malik Mothersille has joined Everton on trial and even featured against Liverpool in an Under-21 game on Monday evening.
The Athletic report that Everton have agreed to take Mothersille on trial amid confusion over his Chelsea future.
19-year-old attacker Mothersille is out of contract at Chelsea but terms on a new deal have yet to be agreed.
Everton have now signed forms to bring Mothersille in on trial with a view to potentially signing him this summer.
It’s stated that Everton and Chelsea are in discussions about Mothersille with both clubs keen to avoid a tribunal.
Chelsea are due compensation if Mothersille moves on due to his age and there is ‘optimism’ that Everton will be able to strike a deal.
European clubs are thought to be keen on signing Mothersille but Everton are leading the race.
In fact, Mothersille was publicly named on the bench for Everton in their Under-21 clash against Liverpool on Monday evening.
Mothersille came off the bench as he replaced Matthew Apter in the second half, featuring in a 4-0 thrashing.
Everton didn’t decide to hide Mothersille under the ‘trialist’ name, maybe adding to the belief that a deal can be done.

Mothersille started out in the Leyton Orient ranks before joining Chelsea way back in 2020.
The Athletic reported just last year that Arsenal, Manchester United, Norwich City and Brighton were all keen on Mothersille.
Chelsea won the race but Mothersille has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Blues.

Mothersille has bagged 11 goals in 26 games for the Chelsea Under-18’s, as well as seven goals in 20 Under-21 outings.
The versatile forward – who can play up front, out wide or even as a number 10 – even spent time on loan with Derby County’s Under-18’s in 2021.
The time may now have come for Mothersille to leave Chelsea permanently and Everton are looking like a probable destination.
