West Ham were linked to Dzeko earlier this month as part of a swap deal.
West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing AS Roma striker Edin Dzeko in a move that would see manager Manuel Pellegrini reunite with the ex-Manchester City forward – and they could find a helping hand from Chelsea.
Italian outlet Leggo claim 32-year-old Dzeko is wanted by West Ham if the Italian club were to enter negotiations over a move to sign Marko Arnautovic in the January transfer window.
West Ham have been linked with a move for Dzeko in the past, with links coming up since the arrival of Pellegrini as West Ham manager. The Hammers are likely to be in the market for a striker.
Doubts remain over the future of Arnautovic, Andy Carroll and Javier Hernandez, with the latter duo being linked with moves to Turkey. So, if West Ham do move for Dzeko, they could find a move helped by London rivals Chelsea.
Indeed, Italian outlet CalcioMercato claim Michy Batshuayi is a possible target for Roma, with current loan side Valencia considering a move that would see the Belgian return to parent club Chelsea.
Batshuayi, 25, has struggled with Valencia, scoring only three goals in 20 league and cup appearances. If the loan is cancelled in January, the striker could become a target for Roma.
If he does indeed move to Roma, Dzeko will fall down the pecking order and West Ham may find it easier to land two-time Premier League champion Dzeko if they are to move for the Bosnian.
City signed Dzeko for £27million (Telegraph) from Wolfsburg in 2011, and he scored 72 goals in 189 games for City. So, if Batshuayi joins Roma, Chelsea could be lending a helping hand to West Ham in their reported pursuit of Dzeko.
