Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has been keen to praise the ability of a forward who struggled for consistency last season at Stamford Bridge.
Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea completed the signing of Barcelona forward Marc Guiu earlier this summer but sources have told HITC that the club want a second striker signing.
Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is understood to be a target and Chelsea have held talks with the player’s representatives.
However, the Blues will not pay the £110 million release clause in his contract but nevertheless, the clubs insistence on wanting a second striker this summer will surely spell trouble for their current striking options.

Maresca praises Christopher Nkunku despite poor debut season
One signing who has not worked out since moving to Stamford Bridge is French forward Christopher Nkunku who was brought to the club in 2023 but the transfer has certainly not worked out.
Mauricio Pochettino’s time at Stamford Bridge was a disaster but the lack of availability of Nkunku certainly cost the Argentine his job.
With former Leicester City manager Maresca at the helm this summer, Nkunku will have another chance to succeed in West London and it appears the Italian manager is a big fan of the former RB Leipzig striker.
“Nkunku can play everywhere. He’s doing very well already,” Maresca said as per Fabrizio Romano on X.
“He can play number 9, winger, attacking midfielder… he can play everywhere. I see football with players able to play in several positions”.
“I want players to develop and play in several positions”.
Nkunku’s versatility will be a key weapon for Chelsea with the Frenchman able to play across the front three and at number 10 if needed.
Nkunku will have key role to play at Chelsea next season
Whilst Chelsea may want to add another striker this summer, there is certainly room in the team for the Frenchman to flourish.
The future of Raheem Sterling is unclear and if the Englishman does leave, Nkunku would be the perfect player to play on the left.
It has been a tough start to life in West London for Nkunku but during his time in Germany, the Frenchman looked electric.
Indeed, former Arsenal winger Thierry Henry was a big fan of Nkunku during his time at Leipzig when he told CBS Sports that he ‘loved watching him’.
