Chelsea are back in for Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez as they consider alternatives to Brighton and Hove Albion’s Mosies Caicedo.
Edson Alvarez is back on the Chelsea wish list as they seek to bring in a new midfielder this summer.
That is according to The Times, who claim that Chelsea are looking at a number of midfield options.
Offers for Moises Caicedo have been rejected and Chelsea could yet move on to other targets.
It’s stated that Chelsea want the likes of Tyler Adams, Gabri Veiga and Ajax star Alvarez.
Chelsea wanted Alvarez last summer and the Mexico international even tried to force through a move to Stamford Bridge by skipping training.
No deal was done though and Alvarez saw out the season with Ajax, recording three goals and three assists in 31 Eredivisie games.
Alvarez now finds himself as a wanted man once again with Chelsea seemingly weighing up reigniting their interest.

West Ham United could suffer another blow if Chelsea sign Edson Alvarez
This news will hardly be well-received at West Ham United.
West Ham have been keen to sign Alvarez to help replace Declan Rice following his move to Arsenal.
Borussia Dortmund looked set to sign Alvarez but that deal collapsed, leaving Sport Bild reporter Christian Falk to suggest that the Hammers had a good chance of a deal.

TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook has already reported that West Ham’s David Sullivan is a keen admirer of Alvarez.
The Hammers have faced major problems in the transfer market and are yet to land a midfielder to help replace Rice.
The Premier League kick off is nearing and West Ham need to get moving with their recruitment plans.
Alvarez would be ideal as a holding midfield addition but Chelsea’s interest serves as a real dent to West Ham’s hopes in what is becoming a transfer window to forget.
