Chelsea are set to sign Jimmy-Jay Morgan from Southampton as the Blues close in on the Arsenal and Leeds United target.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Chelsea have now reached an agreement to sign Morgan.

Romano claims that Chelsea are striking a deal worth up to £6million including add-ons and the deal is ‘almost completed’.

You would imagine that Southampton have a pretty hefty sell-on clause as part of the deal given Morgan’s potential.

The transfer window may be officially over but youth recruitment is still key for top Premier League clubs.

Chelsea have been placing a keen focus on their development ranks and now appear to have a new talent on the way in with Morgan close to joining.

Arsenal to miss out on Chelsea-bound Jimmy-Jay Morgan

This will feel like a coup for Chelsea given that a number of other Premier League clubs are also interested in Morgan.

Sky Sports claimed last week that Morgan had asked to leave Southampton.

Arsenal, Leeds and Manchester City were all thought to be interested in signing Morgan if Southampton were willing to let him go.

Hampshire Live added that the Saints were reluctant to let Morgan leave but Chelsea now appear to have won the race.

Morgan turned 17 earlier in January and has racked up four goals and five assists in just eight Premier League 2 games this season.

A versatile forward who has played out wide and up front in the Southampton ranks, Morgan is thought to have a big future ahead of him.

Chelsea managed to beat Arsenal to Mykhailo Mudryk in January and whilst this won’t make quite as many headlines, the Blues will still be delighted with this transfer win.
