Chelsea striker Armando Broja is shining on loan at Southampton, with bitter rivals Arsenal now hoping for an audacious summer deal.

Broja has been enjoying a fine season with the Saints but has really hit mainstream praise in recent weeks.

After scoring against and tormenting Tottenham Hotspur last week, Broja ran Harry Maguire ragged at the weekend.

Admittedly, that isn’t all that impressive against the Manchester United defender this season, but Broja turned in a proper centre forward’s display.

Strong, fast, aggressive, skilful, just a complete nuisance throughout Southampton’s 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Broja is unsurprisingly attracting interest now, with Football London claiming Arsenal want to sign the Albanian.

Arsenal desperately need a new striker this summer and who wouldn’t want Broja after his displays for Southampton?

Arsenal may wish they were negotiating with Southampton though, as talks with Chelsea won’t exactly be easy.

Sure, some players have moved directly between the clubs – David Luiz, Petr Cech, Olivier Giroud – but they were all in their 30’s and not a youngster full of potential.

Chelsea would be within their rights to demand a staggering fee if Arsenal do some calling.

Blues fans just aren’t having it, suggesting that selling Broja to Arsenal would be ‘out of order’ and ‘outrageous’ to even consider.

Others think Arsenal actually have a better chance of signing Romelu Lukaku this summer than prising Broja away from Stamford Bridge.

The big suggestion was that Chelsea ask for Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka as part of the deal.

Whether just as a deterrent or because they actually want to see Saka in blue, Chelsea fans are suggesting a swap for him or Martinelli.

Arsenal surely won’t go for that, but that just shows how difficult this pursuit of Broja will be this summer.
