Owen Hargreaves has urged Chelsea to take a leaf out of Arsenal’s book by having a settled starting lineup moving forward.

The Blues enjoyed a huge win on Tuesday night as they beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the Champions League.

Overturning a 1-0 deficit from the first leg feels like a massive moment for Graham Potter after so much scrutiny.

Two wins in a row and a place in the last eight of the Champions League, Chelsea may be turning a corner.

There is still a long, long way to go yet though and Chelsea need to keep stringing results together to really ease the pressure on Potter.

If Potter wants an example to follow, maybe it’s Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta…

Owen Hargreaves tells Chelsea to follow Arsenal’s lead

This comparison has come up a lot of late.

The Daily Mail noted in February that Chelsea officials have been using Arteta as an example of giving a manager time despite poor results.

Potter even brought up the comparison himself, highlighting how Arteta was under fire early into his second season at Arsenal.

The Gunners now find themselves top of the Premier League and their patience is being rewarded.

Pundit Owen Hargreaves has now had his say and believes Chelsea can take some inspiration from the Gunners.

As quoted by Football London, Hargreaves highlighted that Chelsea have created a problem by having so many players all expecting playing time.

That means Potter has had to change up his team regularly and Chelsea have suffered as a result.

Hargreaves thinks Chelsea should now look at Arsenal and have a fairly settled starting lineup moving forward.

Arsenal’s starting XI pretty much picks itself right now, but that may well change down the line as Arteta and co try to bring in higher-profile additions.

“I don’t think this is Graham’s problem, by the way, this is the club’s,” said Hargreaves. “If you look at Arsenal you know who is going to play pretty much every game, City, Liverpool, United, you know who’s going to be in that starting XI, give or take one or two.”

“Graham has inherited a group of players and even for him it is going to take time to find out what is his core. What is his core, and then whoever is not going to be in there they have to sell them in the summer,” he added.
