Chelsea and West Ham United are at opposite ends of the Premier League table, but share top spot here.

When it comes to refereeing, the Premier League is generally at a high standard, especially compared with some other leagues in Europe.

This season the focus is on the referees once again, with a series of changes to the rules having made their jobs all the trickier.

Unfortunately, in the modern fast-paced world of football, the referees and their assistants cannot make the right decision 100% of the time.

Most of the time the incorrect decisions are inconsequential but on some occasions, they are major, a wrongly given penalty or a red card that changing a game.

Last weekend, in particular, saw the referees come into focus as their decisions in the North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham were strongly questioned after the game.

But which teams can feel the most aggrieved so far this season? Who, of all the Premier League teams, have been subjected to the most contentious decisions?

The answer is Chelsea and West Ham United, who sit top of that particular table, having had eight contentious decisions against them so far this season.

That tally sees them ahead of Crystal Palace, who have had five and Bournemouth and Hull who had four each.

Luckily for Chelsea, it has not had too much of an effect, with them currently just a point behind league leaders Liverpool at the top of the league.

For West Ham, it is a different tale, though, as they sit 17^th in the table and just a point outside of the relegation zone.

This evidence suggests they can feel aggrieved to be there and they will surely be hoping there is more luck coming their way from the officials across the remainder of the campaign.
