Assan Ouedraogo wanted by top Premier League clubs

It’s now suggested that Chelsea are keen on signing Schalke teenager Assan Ouedraogo.

Manchester City and Newcastle United are also thought to be interested, whilst Brentford, Brighton and Hove Albion and West Ham United are all keen too.

The report claims that Schalke are in ‘major’ financial problems and may be forced to sell Ouedraogo in 2024.

Premier League clubs are now queueing up to land the 17-year-old but they face competition from around Europe.

Bayer Leverkusen, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Lens, Marseille and Nice all fancy signing Ouedraogo, meaning the race is well and truly on ahead of January.

Who is Chelsea and Manchester City target Ouedraogo?

Ouedraogo is the son of former Burkina Faso international Alassane Ouedraogo, who turned out for the likes of Charleroi, Koln, Rot-Weiss Oberhausen and TuS Koblenz.

Koblenz is where Ouedraogo senior was playing when Assan was born, and his football journey started with hometown club Union Mulheim.

Schalke pounced to sign Ouedraogo as a kid and brought him up through their ranks, eventually emerging as a first-team player this season.

The teenage midfielder – who stands at around 6ft 3in – has now played eight league games for Schalke, notching one goal.

Ouedraogo has also racked up 15 caps for Germany’s Under-17’s with more international honours to come.

Hailed as a ‘mega talent’ over in Germany, Ouedraogo seems destined for a big future – and we could now see the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Newcastle fight it out for him.
