Chelsea are working hard to build up their collection of South American prospects, and it looks like they are now looking to add another one to the list.

Andrey Santos has forced his way into the starting XI since coming back from loan, while Kendry Paez is building a strong reputation out on loan at Strasbourg.

But it is Estevao Willian who has made the biggest impression so far. Since arriving in the summer, he has become a regular fixture under Enzo Maresca.

While there is always pressure to bring in established names, players with real star potential are usually given time by supporters if they show signs of growth, and this explains why the Blues keep looking for more prospects.

Since Estevao left the Brazilian league, Rayan has emerged as a standout at Vasco da Gama.

The 19-year-old, who has been part of the first team for a while now, appears to have caught Chelsea’s eye.

Trivela reports that the winger is among the names being considered as Chelsea continue their focus on signing young talent from across the globe.

The London-based club already have plenty of promising players in attacking roles. Geovany Quenda is another recent addition, and he is expected to link up with the first team by the end of the season.

Who is Rayan?

Rayan has already accumulated significant playing time in his career, even establishing himself in Brazil’s U20 team.

This season, he has 12 goals and an assist in the Brazilian league, with Vasco de Gama currently sitting 11th in the standings.

Chelsea’s ongoing focus on signing young talent has not gone down well with some fans, who feel the club are prioritising future potential over immediate first-team needs.

Enzo Maresca appears to share some of that hesitation. He has not yet leaned on several new arrivals, even as injuries have left gaps in his squad.
