Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella has urged the Blues to sign one of the stars of the 2024 European Championships in Germany.

The European Championships in Germany has been a very exciting tournament with Spain and the host nation arguably being the best sides to watch at this tournament.

France and England, considered as one of the tournament favourites before a ball had been kicked in Germany, have been rather poor to watch so far.

Spain have arguably been the best side to watch and one player who has been the most exciting and enthralling to watch has been Athletic Bilbao forward Nico Williams.

Chelsea ace urges club to sign Williams

The Spanish winger has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona this summer with HITC understanding that the 21-year-old is the club’s top target this summer.

However, Arsenal and Liverpool are also understood to remain keen on Williams despite the winger’s preference understood to be Barcelona.

Now, Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella, speaking to Spanish outlet Sport, is hoping his side put their hat in the ring to sign the exciting winger.

“He is a great player, he is bringing out all his potential,” Cucurella said. “It is a source of pride that he is on our team, that he is our teammate and with players like him everything is easier.

“He would be a great signing [for Barcelona], but it all depends on what he wants. I’ve been telling him to sign for Chelsea… In the end everything depends on him, he is very young, with a lot of experience. I think he will be a great player.”

Chelsea one of the sides interested in the winger

Sources have told HITC that Chelsea do like the Spanish winger but there is also an acceptance that he won’t be moving to England this summer.

Williams is keeping English sides at arm’s length as he wants a move to Barcelona and Hansi Flick’s side have the 21-year-old down as their number one summer transfer target.

There are financial concerns at the Nou Camp and questions remain about whether they could actually afford to do a deal and this has led to hope from those in England of his signing but Williams’ priority is Barcelona.
