Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of winning the FA Cup this season have been dashed. Spurs have suffered a 4-2 defeat to London rivals Chelsea in the semi-finals of the prestigious cup competition.

Spurs headed into the semi-final tie against Premier League rivals Chelsea as favourites, but they were on the back foot after just five minutes when Willian put the Blues ahead.

Harry Kane equalised for Tottenham on 18 minutes, only for William to put Chelsea back in front from the penalty spot on 43 minutes.

Dele Alli restored parity for Mauricio Pochettino’s side just seven minutes into the second half, but Eden Hazard and Nemanja Matic subsequently scored to bag a 4-2 win for Chelsea.

Former Tottenham chairman Lord Sugar and ex-Spurs striker Gary Lineker were following the match, and they have taken to Twitter to give their reactions to the final result.

Over the course of the 90 minutes at the Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday afternoon, Chelsea had just 37% of the possession, took eight shots of which five were on target, and earned one corners, according to BBC Sport.

Tottenham had 63% of the possession, took 13 shots of which four were on target, and earned 11 corners, according to BBC Sport.
