The world of football has paid tribute to Cheick Tiote after the midfielder’s sudden death at the age of 30.
Tiote collapsed during training with Chinese side Beijing Enterprises, a club whom the midfielder joined in February from Newcastle United.

Born in Ivory Coast – a nation whom he played 55 times for – he began his professional career in Belgium with Anderlecht.
Tiote later joined FC Twente and then signed for the Magpies in the summer of 2010 following the club’s promotion from the Championship.

The Ivorian spent six-and-a-half years at St James’ Park, playing 156 times for the North East club and scoring just the one goal – a spectacular equaliser against Arsenal in 2011 as Newcastle came from 4-0 down at half-time to draw 4-4.
