Arsenal fans on Twitter clearly weren’t in agreement with Cesc Fabregas after he claimed on his social media page that Sadio Mane is the best player in the Premier League.

It was the Mane show on Sunday as he helped the champions of England secure a vital 2-0 win over Chelsea by netting both goals during the game.

That resulted in Fabregas repeating his previous claims that Mane is the best player in England’s top-flight.

A selection of Arsenal supporters were quick to shut down their former player because they felt that award should go to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Both the above players mentioned mainly play on the left-hand side for their respective clubs, but Aubameyang has also played down the middle because he is an out-and-out striker.

Either way, last season, both produced top-quality performances, with Mane helping his team to the Premier League title and Auba guiding Mikel Arteta to the FA Cup in his first season in charge.

Liverpool’s trophies under Jurgen Klopp

  1. Champions League

    2018/19

  2. UEFA Super Cup

    2019

  3. FIFA Club World Cup

    2019

  4. Premier League

    2019/20

Whilst there is a clear contrasting difference in the quality both Liverpool and Arsenal have as teams, it doesn’t mean that an argument cannot be formed about who is the better player from an individual perspective.

Last season, Mane played 35 league matches, scoring 18 goals and supplying nine assists along the way [transfermarkt].

By contrast, the former Dortmund hitman played 36 games, finding the back of the net on 22 occasions, as well as supplying three assists [transfermarkt].

It’s not fair to judge who the best player in the league is by numbers only, but it does need to be remembered that Aubameyang carried his team more than the Anfield player.

Either way, Fabregas’ tweet on Mane has provoked fans of his former club to give their backing to Aubameyang:
